INCANDESSENCE is the eighth album by Claudio Constantini, who was nominated for a Latin Grammy in 2019 and was the bandoneon soloist with the most concerts given in Spain in 2021. His latest album received the Global Music Awards in 2020 (Silver Medal).

 

In this musical fusion project, he takes advantage of the momentum that his career took in 2021 as a result of his participation in various national tours for Astor Piazzolla's centennial, to approach his own jazz-influenced musical language without letting himself be limited by the conventions of any genre, although influenced by the many musics in which the artist has ventured as a result of his innate curiosity.

To accompany him on this project, Constantini has brought together three great musicians from the national jazz scene and Latin American root music: Raúl Kiokio (guitars), Toño Miguel (double bass and electric bass) and Naíma Acuña (drums).

 

Today's concert will be the premiere of this project, which will play again in Bremen (Germany) in a few days, at the most important jazz fair in Europe, JazzAhead.

 

INCANDESSENCE by Constantini, explained by Claudio:

 

« During the 2020 lockdown, the absence of concerts boosted my creativity, but that was not all that happened to me in that period of uncertainty. Life took on a new meaning for me, I felt an intense fascination with it and learned to submit to its unruly course. I reflected a lot on temporality and timelessness; about eternity.

 

For me, there is no doubt that something eternal resides in us, although paradoxically it’s not in those things with which we might identify the most: our thoughts, our ideas, our traditions.

When we reveal that piece of eternity submerged within us, light arises; incandescence… and it is precisely its discovery to which I dedicate this concert and my forthcoming album.

 

In the program that you will see below, I’ve placed indications under the titles of each piece to explain the process that I followed, a personal experience that is not any more important than anyone else’s. Thank you for joining me on this journey. »
